Valentine's Day Wine Tasting

On Saturday, we went to a few little shops in downtown Sedona and then headed out to 4 wineries for some fantastic wine tastings! I didn't take any pics at the wineries since we were inside and there wasn't much scenery to speak of...it isn't exacting harvesting season right now.
Quadruplets!

Mmm, Mmm Good! We came home with a viognier, red zinfandel, a blend that is so good we are totally saving it for a special occasion, and a hot pepper wine that we are going to use to cook with. See...it's not all for just drinking and being lush-ous!

Sedona-Red Rock Country

We rode up to Sedona, "Red Rock Country," on Thursday night. Friday we went on 2 hikes...one around Airport Loop that was about 4-5miles long and fairly flat with just a little bit of up and down. The pic above was really cool b/c as you can see one rock formation is snow topped and the other is not despite being so close together.
In between our 2 hikes, we went to the Chapel of the Holy Cross. The only word I can think of to describe it is majestic...it simply brought tears to my eyes. This is a pic from below, but we did go up and into the chapel as well. It is open everyday with only one service on Monday evenings.

This was the view from the top of the hill that the chapel sits on.

This is from the top of our 2nd hike up Cathedral Rock...it was only a mile-long hike, but was straight up and involved a bit of rock climbing skills. I kept thinking...my mother would freak out if she knew I was doing this!

This was the start of our hike up to Cathedral Rock...we hiked WAAYY up there! All in all, Sedona was well worth the trip and was just beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!

Salt River Canyon

Our ride to and from Sunrise included driving through Salt River Canyon. The views were amazing! It was really wild too that we could be driving along one side of the canyon and see the road on the other side where we would eventually end up. We stopped several times along the way to enjoy the scenery and take pictures. The picture above was my favorite.
Those are some BIG rocks!

Brian really wanted to hike down into the canyon...pretty steep and rocky...probably not a great idea.

Is our country beautiful or what?!?!

Skiing in Sunrise, AZ

Skiing in Arizona? Yes, it is possible! We headed up to Sunrise, AZ Friday morning where the temperature definitely changed as we went up, up, up!

Can you believe these views? It was crazy seeing being in the snow and then looking off in the distance and seeing desert...very weird!

Watch out for those trees! I thought this was a really cool view from the top of the slope. No cacti here!
